Flood Preparedness & Deployment Training

Plans only work if the people onsite understand them. We train facility teams on their own site, their own plan and their own equipment.

Definition

Flood protection training prepares a facility's own staff to execute a deployment plan — recognizing triggers, handling equipment, following the barrier alignment and knowing their role during and after an event.

Who this is for

  • Facility and maintenance teams responsible for first response
  • Security and operations staff who may be onsite overnight
  • Multi-shift teams needing consistent procedures
  • Organizations that own equipment their staff has never deployed

Common use cases

Pre-season briefing

Walk the plan and alignment with the team before hurricane season or spring melt.

Hands-on equipment session

Handling, connecting, filling, anchoring and draining the system your site actually owns.

New staff or new site

Bring a new team or a newly acquired property up to the same readiness standard.

Process

What an engagement looks like

  1. Step 01

    Scope

Who is being trained, what they will be responsible for, and what equipment is onsite.

  2. Step 02

    Plan review

Walk the property against the mitigation plan: entry points, alignment, staging, water and discharge.

  3. Step 03

    Practical session

Hands-on work with the equipment, including partial deployment where practical.

  4. Step 04

    Roles and triggers

Who does what, in what order, on what signal — including escalation to our crews.

  5. Step 05

    Reference material

A short site-specific summary the team can actually use during an event.

Planning considerations

What decides the outcome

Train for the first two hours
Facility staff rarely complete a full deployment; they buy time and protect the highest-value openings until crews arrive.
Turnover is the enemy of readiness
Annual refreshers keep procedures alive as staff changes.
Documentation supports training
Short written procedures and labeled equipment do more under pressure than a long manual.

Answers

Flood Protection Training — questions we get

Can facility teams be trained to deploy flood barriers themselves?
Yes. Facility staff can be trained to begin a deployment and protect priority openings, and to handle, fill, anchor and recover equipment. Full-perimeter deployments on larger sites are typically executed with our crews.
Where does training take place?
Onsite at your facility, using your plan and your equipment, so what the team practices matches what they will do during an event.
