Case study

Hospital campus — Hurricane Milton and Helene, 2024

A precautionary deployment set before the storm arrived. Orange water-filled tubes were laid in a continuous line around the campus, stacked two tubes on the base and one on top, bound with yellow straps and anchored to ground stakes and bolted brackets. The run follows curbs, passes under the entrance canopy, crosses driveways and closes into its own ring around an outdoor pad-mounted transformer.

Risk profile
Named-hurricane storm surge and rainfall flooding at a campus with an emergency department, a skybridge, clinical buildings and large asphalt lots — where loss of power or access stops care.

What the photographs show

The site as it stood.

The photographs show the barrier complete and the ground inside the line dry, with the campus carrying a temporary closure notice for Hurricane Milton. Aerial frames show the run extending hundreds of yards around the complex. The company's own project record for the 2024 season describes a Level I trauma center held against four to six feet of surge during Hurricane Helene; matching that figure to this campus is still open.

Scope of work

  • Perimeter alignment set around clinical buildings, emergency entrance and parking areas
  • Tubes stacked two-plus-one for additional protection height
  • Anchoring to ground stakes and bolted concrete brackets
  • Closed ring built around an outdoor pad-mounted transformer
  • Barrier routed under the entrance canopy and across driveway openings
  • Stacked orange water-filled barrier tubes running across a hospital entrance driveway under a canopy
Entrance: the line crosses the driveway under the canopy, strapped and staked to the pavement.
  • Orange water-filled barrier tubes forming a closed ring around a pad-mounted electrical transformer
Utilities: a closed ring around the pad-mounted transformer, so power stays up if water rises.
  • Water-filled barrier line running alongside a hospital skybridge and clinical building
Skybridge: the alignment continues along the building line between structures.

What is still open on this project

Photographs show a deployment. They do not show permission, dates or measured results. Those items are listed here and published the moment the client confirms them.

Open items

  • Client permission to name the hospital and the city
  • Confirmation that the four-to-six-foot surge figure in the 2024 project record belongs to this campus
  • Deployment start and finish times, and total linear feet
  • The dates shown are working placeholders, not a confirmed deployment record.
